Purchase of Basketball Jerseys for CCA Players

25 February 2015

Dear Parents / Guardians of Basketball CCA Players,

We thank you for giving support to your child in his/her passion for basketball.

As part of our efforts to make Basketball CCA better, we have decided to order basketball jerseys for our CCA players. This is in response to feedback from our parents that a proper jersey makes a player identify more with the sport and pursue it with greater passion and dedication. The players feel the pride and distinction of training their basketball skills.

Based on parents’ feedback, we have decided to adopt a blue jersey for the CCA players. The Nanyang Falcons also compete in blue and white jerseys. The words Nanyang will be printed in Chinese on the left chest and in English at the back. Numbers will be printed from 20 to 99 and your child will be assigned a number. We are aware that some numbers have a negative connotation and we will not print these numbers. The end design is similar to the diagram below with some variation to the trimmings on the side and final colour.
The jerseys will be supplied by LiNing, a company renowned for its sports apparel. They are made of a lightweight, cool and dry material suitable for the sport of basketball. It will cost $30 per set. This jersey is encouraged but NOT COMPULSORY for the CCA player to purchase.

The suppliers will be coming on Friday, 27th February from 2pm to 3pm to help your child take measurements for their individual jerseys. If you wish to purchase the jersey, your child is required to pay the supplier directly with cash or you may write a crossed cheque addressed to the authorized dealer - Cagers Sports And Event Management.

Warmest Regards,

Mr Eugene Ng Ming Teck

NBA Asia Basketball Clinic

On Thursday 15 January 2015, the Nanyang basketballers had the unique opportunity to attend a basketball clinic conducted by NBA Asia. The clinic was run in the cosy indoor sports hall located at HomeTeamNS Club (Balestier)

The players had a great time as Coach Chris Sumner, the manager of Basketball Operations in NBA Asia (Hong Kong), led them on a series of fun drills and games. Chris came prepared with prizes for the winners of games. Not wanting to disappoint our young players, Chris also gave out cool NBA3X wrist bands to everyone.

Nanyang Basketball Blog is back for 2015!

Dear Parents and Pupils,

Our humble apologies for not blogging in 2014. We had a very meaningful year as our Senior boys captured the West Zone Championship and subsequently came in 3rd in the Nationals.

For our CCA Members we were able to continue our weekly trainings with Coach Ong. We were also able to organise a 1-day camp in March 2014 and a 3-day camp in June 2014. During the camp we showed a documentary of Jeremy Lin, we taught the pupils to cook outdoors and we also played a telematch together. The highlight of our camp was a hike to Hort Park as well as a movie outing to Great World City where we were able to catch the made-in-Singapore movie, Meeting The Giant. Many thanks to all our Parents who contributed sponsorship in cash and kind in order to make the camp a big success.

For the Nanyang Falcons in the development and school teams, we were able to embark on an overseas trip to Malaysia. It was a wonderful trip with matches against Malaysian schools in Penang and Perak. We had a chance to visit the Sunway Lost World Theme Park as well as the Kuala Lumpur Skytrex Outdoor Adventure Park. Many of our boys were also accompanied by their parents and siblings, making it very much like a family tour together.

And so...onwards to 2015. We will not be blogging much about what has passed. But you can all look forward to what is about to happen next. As teachers, we will try to stay committed to blogging in order to keep everyone posted on what is happening in Nanyang Basketball. At the same time, with the popularity of Facebook, we would also like to launch the Nanyang Falcons FB page to share photos and other related news. You can like the page from the blog panel here or visit the FB page at

What a difference a year makes... CHAMPIONS!

Our Boys last year (top). Our Champions this year (bottom).

What a difference a year makes.

A year ago, we sent our boys to take part in a friendly 5-vs-5 basketball competition organised by Jurong Secondary. We sent one team as we were not sure how we would perform. As the boys had only just started training then, there was not much expectations. They were also a young Junior Team against much stronger Senior Teams. True to form, they were also soundly beaten. As some boys would recall then, we lost by as much as 52-2.

This year, on 9th November, our boys returned once more to the courts of Jurong Secondary to compete in their annual 5-vs-5 competition. This time we entered as Seniors. Due to the team's growth, we could also compete as 2 teams - Team A and B. Team B gave their best but were eliminated after garnering 2 wins and 2 losses in the first round. Our story does not end here, as Team A would go on to sweep all their games in rounds 1 and 2 to emerge as the champions of the Jurong 5-vs-5 competition!

Our Senior Boys Team A would win each of their games with a deadly mix of panache, skill and swashbuckling play. Like a hot knife through butter, they would scythe through their opponents on their way  to the basket. Where individual play was stopped, the team passed their way into the zone before scoring crucial baskets. Whenever the opponent seemed to step up their game, our Senior boys never waivered or waned. They would press harder on the defence and obliterate their foes with their stinging offence.

There were plenty of games to savour that day and the parents and supporters who joined us were treated to a boundless display of lethal scoring and accurate passes accompanied by a relentless defence. The Senior Boys would play 7 games and win all 7 that day. The boys won for themselves a medal each and $300 in Popular vouchers which was shared not just by the players in Team A but also with the players in Team B. As a team, they share their defeats and their triumphs, their joy and sorrow.

THEY ARE A TEAM, A BAND OF BROTHERS.
HOWEVER DIFFERENT THEY ARE IN TALENT OR ABILITY;
THEY ALL BLEED NANYANG BLUE.

We congratulate our Senior Boys on their triumph and hope that this would spur them to greater glory and achievements.

Next up, the Senior Falcons head to Taipei, Taiwan to take part in a provincial tournament organised by Nangang Primary School. Let us wish them all the best in their endeavours!
