NYPS Boys vs Kranji Pri in 3rd/4th Playoff

Today we meet with Kranji Primary again for the 3rd/4th playoff.

Having played with Kranji and Choa Chu Kang Primary empowered our boys the strength and power to be a better team. We won the match 40 - 24 to earn ourselves 3rd place for West zone.

Many thanks to all the parents, siblings and schoolmates who went down to cheer for the team.

NYPS Boys vs Choa Chu Kang Primary

Today our boys team played in the West Zone semi-finals, against Choa Chu Kang Primary School, one of the seeded basketball teams in the West Zone and National.

The Choa Chu Kang team are sharp shooters who run faster, jump higher and fight harder. Our boys lost the match 21-62.

Special thanks to Eileen, Edson's mother, who provided the team with refreshments after the match and all the parent supporters who went down to cheer for the team.

NYPS Boys vs Kranji Primary

On Friday 22 Feb, NYPS boys team meet with 2012 National 1st Runner-up, Kranji Primary.

The 1st quarter ended with NYPS 1 vs Kranji 11. But we started 2nd quarter with a quick 4 points and ended the quarter 12 points and Kranji 17.

At the 3rd quarter the boys continue to put up a tough fight and we end the quarter 21 vs 21. We continue to fight ending the match 25 vs 25.

At the extra time of 5 minutes the 5 flushed boys continued to play hard although they are already very tired and finally at the last 30 seconds, Kranji threw in the last basket bringing the score 29 and match ended with NYPS 27.

The boys have fought hard, and given our National 1st Runner-up a hard time to fight for every point. We celebrate their growth as a basketball player as they mature and learn in every match. Our own version of "Ah boys to Men"!

Nyps Boys vs Lian Hua Primary

Today's match has challenged our boys to put forth their best foot against a fitter and much
stronger team than those that they have met in previous games.
Nyps led the first game with a score of 10-2 and with second game finishing 18-3.
In the third game, our boys gave away points by committing many fouls allowing other team to end with 15-30. Hopefully, our boys learnt from this that fouls can cost them their game.
In the fourth game, through Lian Hua's sharp shooting, they narrowed the score gap to 29-39.
Our boys really fought back hard in this last game, determined to win so as to ensure a place in the semi-finals.
Yes, they have indeed earned it and deserved a pat on the shoulder.

Nyps Boys team vs De La Salle pri at Jurong Pri, 4pm

Our boys having won the first 3 games in previous round of tournament has qualified for 2nd round to meet De La Salle Pri today.
The opponents are seasoned players and our boys are prepared to fight it out on court. They sure did! Our hard won victory stands at 28-13. Bravo! Hip hip hooray!!!
Next game coming up is this Wednesday, 2:30pm at Kranji Pri. It will be show down with Lian Hua Pri.

Lo Hei cum potluck breakfast gathering

This morning, parents from boys and girls teams as well as parents from P4's newly recruited boys came together for a potluck breakfast. As it is the Chinese New Year period and today happens to be 人日 as well, we had a lo hei session with the boys and coach. The principal, Mrs Lee came to join us for the breakfast before leaving for another engagement. To all the parents n students preparing for next week's 3 matches on mon, tue n fri: Huat Ah! And 加油!!!

Hard earned victory for our boys!

Today, our boys met a much tougher opponent in Bukit Panjang Primary. They had to fight hard to keep the scores going with a slow start in the first quarter when Bukit Panjang put in the first two baskets. The next half of the game see our boys widening the gap on the score. It was a jubilant win when the game ended with score of 38-14.

Our boys team walked off victorious at end of match against Henry Park Primary School with a score of 48-2. Well done, boys! You have made it to round 2.

A little note of encouragement

It doesn't matter how long it takes to reach your goal. You will get there as long as you persevere. Most important is to enjoy the process.
